AT&T Seniors Plan Guide: Get The Best Internet and Phone Discounts

Need AT&T services as a senior? I dug into each AT&T plan to find AT&T’s best internet and phone plans for seniors.

AT&T is one of the few internet service providers (ISP) old enough to get its own senior discount. They’ve been providing nationwide telecommunications services since their Ma Bell days in the 1900s.

And from one senior to another, this means that AT&T won’t leave you high and dry if you’re a senior hunting for affordable internet or phone service. AT&T offers a straightforward catalog of phone and internet plans that offer great value and performance.

Not sure where to start shopping? I did the research, and here’s what you need to know if you’re a senior looking for AT&T internet or phone service.

Why you should trust us: Our expert editors spend thousands of hours researching and testing internet providers every year to give you the most up-to-date and accurate information available.

For this guide, I drew from our existing AT&T internet, TV, and phone reviews. This coverage relied on sources including hands-on testing, reporting, and talking to hundreds of real-life AT&T customers as part of CableTV.com’s annual customer satisfaction survey series.

Additionally, I used these sources to highlight the best AT&T internet and TV deals for seniors and older customers.

AT&T’s best internet plans for seniors

Plan Price Max download speeds Max upload speeds Details
Internet 300 $55.00/mo. 300 Mbps 300 Mbps
Internet Air $60.00/mo. 90–300 Mbps 8–30 Mbps

Data effective as of post date. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change.

My recommendations for the best AT&T senior internet plans are Internet 300 and Internet Air. Internet 300 is AT&T’s starter fiber internet plan and offers solid 300 Mbps upload and download speeds for equally fast streaming and family video calls. Fiber internet also offers enhanced internet reliability compared to cable ISPs like Xfinity or Spectrum.

However, AT&T’s fiber internet availability varies widely by location. If AT&T fiber internet isn’t available in your area, you may qualify for Internet Air. This is another AT&T internet service that uses its 5G cell phone towers to wirelessly connect your home to the internet. While it’s not as fast as AT&T fiber internet, Internet Air offers good-enough performance and flat-rate pricing for subscribers.

Under a budget? Access from AT&T is a subsidized internet program that offers 100 Mbps download speeds for only $30 monthly. However, your household must be enrolled in a qualifying government assistance program, such as Medicaid or SSI, to qualify for Access.

AT&T’s best phone plan for seniors

TV Package Price Features Details
AT&T 55+ $40/mo. for 1 line, $35/mo. per line for 2 lines
  • Unlimited talk, text, and data in North America
  • 10GB of hotspot data
  • 5G access

Data effective as of post date. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change.
Price per line. Excludes taxes and fees. Not available in all areas. No term agreement. Pricing, packages, and policies are subject to change, including when adjusting or removing services or equipment.

Our pick for AT&T’s best senior cell phone plan is its AT&T 55+ plan. As the name suggests, the plan is exclusively available for customers aged 55 or older. But unlike many senior cell phone plans, 55+ has a surprisingly strong features list.

Along with standard options like unlimited data, calls, and texts in North America, you’ll also get 5G coverage for faster internet speeds and 10GB of hotspot data if you want to get online while RVing on the road. On AT&T’s regular budget plans, you’ll have to settle for hard data caps, no 5G access, or limited hotspot data caps.

That said, 55+ does have some limitations. The plan technically has unlimited data, but AT&T reserves the right to slow down your internet speeds during busy periods. AT&T also limits 4K video streaming to its high-end Unlimited Premium PL plan. But for most seniors, AT&T 55+ offers more than enough value.

Need TV service? Unfortunately, AT&T’s no longer in the home TV game, but services like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV will cover your bases. Check out our guide to the best live TV streaming services to learn more.

Does AT&T have senior discounts?

Unlike many ISPs, AT&T actually has a senior discount! However, you’re required to spring for a specific bundle:

  • Get two AT&T 55+ lines at $70/mo. total.
  • Pay only $30/mo. for AT&T Fiber’s 300 Mbps plan or Internet Air, depending on availability in your area.
  • You’ll pay only $99 total per month for phone and internet service.

Admittedly, most people prefer a flat discount over fine-print hoops—you can’t get the discount with a single 55+ plan, and AT&T no longer offers an AARP discount. Still, getting up to 50% off home internet is nothing to sneeze at.
