What services does Xfinity provide?
Xfinity provides internet, TV, home phone, and mobile service to 41 states. The services are affordable and reliable, and the provider offers free perks, like Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots and the Xfinity Stream app (a dream team for streaming live TV on mobile devices). And you can usually install everything yourself.
But Xfinity’s services and plans vary across its gigantic network—and some Xfinity regions have one-year contracts, while others don’t. We also don’t like the hidden fees for Xfinity equipment or the data caps on Xfinity internet plans. Our guide has more information to help you decide if Xfinity is the provider for you.
Xfinity deals usually include first-year discounts and bundle discounts
Xfinity offers plenty of deals and promotions to help sweeten their solid internet and TV packages. These typically consist of first-year discounts, free phones for mobile customers, and bundle discounts. Check out our Xfinity deals page for this month’s promotions.
So, which Xfinity region am I in?
When viewing Xfinity’s plans, remember that the provider divides its business into three geographic regions: West, Central, and Northeast. Xfinity plan names, specs, and prices differ between these areas to keep up with the competition in different markets.
Throughout this review, you’ll be able to choose to see tables from all regions. Click on the corresponding boxes to see tables showing plans in your Xfinity region.

Residential customers in Xfinity’s West region should rejoice at the affordable 200 Mbps Connect More plan. With this plan, your family can stream TV on your Roku without worrying about constant buffering. The West region is also the only one where you can get the provider’s Gigabit X2 plan, which gives you up to 2,000 Mbps download speeds for $120 monthly.
The Central region also has the Connect More plan for about $5 more per month.
Xfinity’s Northeast plans are much better since the provider changed its plans to better match those in its other regions. Now you’ll no longer find yourself paying $65 a month for embarrassingly slow speeds. Connect More is the best deal in this region, too. You’ll also get that price locked in for the first 24 months. The other plans aren’t too bad either if you need more juice.
If you’re looking to support multiple streaming devices or some online gaming, you might want to upgrade to Xfinity’s Fast, Superfast, or Gigabit plans. Their speeds, between 400 Mbps and 1,000 Mbps, are right in the sweet spot for a household with multiple smart-home devices.
Just watch Xfinity’s contract requirements, Northeasterners—as the Rumplestiltskin of the telecom world, Xfinity loves to hide things in the fine print.

Xfinity’s TV prices in the West region seem low, but there’s a catch—each plan requires a one-year contract. It might be worth it to commit to a year of the Popular TV and Ultimate TV packages, but we don’t recommend you buy Choice TV. It’s just a basic cable package—you’d be better off getting an over-the-air antenna.
The Central region’s plans look similar to those of the West region, but they’re more expensive at the Popular and Ultimate levels (again, avoid Choice TV). The tradeoff is that the Central region doesn’t require a term contract. You’re paying for the freedom to leave at any time.
Xfinity’s Northeast region recently switched from five to three plans in order to match the rest of the country. If you’re missing the old plans, don’t worry; Popular TV is very similar to the old Extra plan, providing 125+ standard cable channels, and Ultimate TV is a lot like the old Digital Preferred plan with 185+ channels.
The Popular TV package is fine for customers who want to save a bit of money, but Ultimate TV is a better choice for families who want lots of options.
All of Xfinity’s cable TV plans include the Xfinity Stream app, which lets you watch TV from your mobile device and TV. We’re all for melding with your couch, but mobile viewing comes in handy if the world drags you kicking and screaming from your house.

Xfinity Voice home phone service is good if you really want a landline
Plan | Price | Details |
---|---|---|
Xfinity Voice | $20.00/mo. | View plan |
Xfinity Voice is a digital Voice over Internet Protocol (or VoIP) landline phone service, which means the calls come (and go) through your Xfinity internet connection. VoIP phone calls tend to be clearer than regular landlines, and Xfinity includes features like three-way calling and voicemail-to-text messaging.
You’ll probably want to bundle Xfinity Voice with internet service, ’cause who gets just a landline? To find out more, see our Xfinity Voice review.

Xfinity Mobile smartphone and mobile data plans aren’t fancy, but they’re affordable, they bundle well with Xfinity’s other services, and they offer robust network coverage. To find out more, see our Xfinity Mobile review.
Xfinity FAQ
What is Xfinity known for?
Xfinity, part of the Comcast Corporation, is a telecommunications company known for its internet, TV, home phone, and mobile/wireless services.
Is there a difference between Comcast and Xfinity?
Comcast owns Xfinity, so they’re basically the same entity. In 2010, Comcast started using Xfinity as its trade name for TV, internet, and phone services.
And as part of Comcast, Xfinity has built-in relationships with Comcast’s other products, such as NBCUniversal. That’s one of the reasons you’ll get the Peacock Premium streaming service for free with your Xfinity cable TV service.
Is Xfinity TV and internet in my area?
Xfinity is available in most US states, but you’ll have to check if it services your neighborhood. Enter your zip code above to check Xfinity availability in your area.
What is the cheapest Xfinity plan?
The cheapest Xfinity internet plan is 75 Mbps for $19.99 in the West region, 75 Mbps for $30.00 in the Central region, and 200 Mbps for $25.00/mo. in the Northeast region. Unfortunately, plan pricing and naming varies by region.
What is the best Xfinity deal?
The best Xfinity deal is the Ultimate Double Play in the provider’s West region, which gives you 800 Mbps download speeds and 185+ live TV channels. Unfortunately a similar deal (Superfast Internet + Ultimate TV) costs more in Xfinity’s Central ($170.00/mo.) and Northeast ($162.00/mo.) regions.
For more on Xfinity’s money-saving double plays and triple plays, head over to our Xfinity bundles review.
How reliable is Xfinity?
According to our customer satisfaction survey, 62% of Xfinity customers are satisfied with their internet service. In addition, 69% of Xfinity customers are satisfied with their internet speed, tying it for first place with Verizon. That said, cable service reliability depends on how heavy usage is in your network. So, for more reliable speeds, we recommend fiber internet if you have the option.
