Phaedra Parks has a lot going on in her personal life, but when it comes to her professional career, things are reportedly stable, despite several conflicting reports.
As her husband, Apollo Nida, prepares to surrender himself for an eight-year prison sentence, reports of Parks’ role on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” continue to swirl. Will the attorney and mother of two continue on with her career in reality television, or will she take a leave of absence from the series? Unfortunately, at this point, it’s hard to tell.
Last month, E! News reported on the show’s upcoming season seven cast and named Parks as one of the cast members, but just one month later, things appear to have changed.
“Despite the ladies’ differences, and rumors that at least one cast member would be out, Porsha Williams, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes all will return to the Bravo reality hit,” E! reported on June 13.
Then, on July 28, Rumorfix claimed Parks was planning on leaving the show ahead of season seven. According to their report, Parks would take a “leave of absence,” effective immediately, but would eventually return to the show for season eight. Sources claimed Phaedra chose to temporarily leave the show because she didn’t want “her personal problems broadcast to the world.”
In addition to Nida’s upcoming jail sentence, Parks is also reportedly dealing with their impending divorce. On July 26, Media Take Out alleged that Parks filed for divorce from Nida earlier in the week. News of the possible split came just days after Nida went public, claiming to be “salty” over Parks’ absence during his sentencing earlier this month.
Although it would make sense to think Parks would be looking for some space from the cameras as she deals with such shocking life changes, a third report claimed she is planning to return to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” – and that she’ll be returning alongside Nida.
On Monday, TMZ reported that Parks was currently shooting scenes for the show with her husband.
The site also claimed Nida’s role on the show would likely be temporary, which makes sense considering he’s legally required to turn himself in any day now.
In the last few months, prior to E! News’ confirmation of the show’s cast, a couple of housewives made comments, which seemed to hint that they would not be returning to the series.
In April, during an appearance on “The Arsenio Hall Show,” Leakes hinted that she may not return to the series.
“For me, it’s like a blessing and a curse,” Leakes said. “It has definitely opened up so many doors and opportunities for me. I have been able to do some of everything just from being on this platform. But at the same time, it can be very negative and very draining and all of things. But also, it can put a lot of money in my pocket. Not just the show, I’m saying, other things come to you.”
According to E! News, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” season seven will likely premiere this November on Bravo.
