The fifth season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is just around the corner and, as the filming start date nears, rumors continue to swirl about which stars will return and who will be added. From a pair of axed wives, to the return of two former wives, there has been tons of chatter. But what is really going on?
On Feb. 25, fans got their first look at casting when TMZ announced there was a 95% chance that Carlton Gebbia and Joyce Giraud wouldn’t be returning to the series. One day later, it was reported that Mohammed Hadid’s fiance, Shiva Safai, would be filling one of their spots.
“Both Lisa and Yolanda are telling Shiva she needs to join the cast and they want her to appear on the next season,” a source told Radar Online on Feb. 26. “Shiva is not only gorgeous, but she is a true class act. Everyone loves her.”
Since Mohammed is one of Lisa Vanderpump’s best friends, as well as the ex-husband of Yolanda Foster, Safai already knows the majority of the cast and has for a while.
“It would be interesting — a fun adventure if it were to happen,” Safai told TooFab on March 11, when asked about the possibility of signing on for “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season five. “We’ll see what happens.”
On March 12, news that Camille Grammer and Adrienne Maloof would be returning to the series hit the web. Although the two hadn’t appeared on season four, they had been on the show for three seasons prior.
“Camille has always stayed friends with the ladies, and she was always popular on the show, she just didn’t want to do it anymore,” a show insider told Radar Online. “Adrienne is a completely different story. She had a really bad ending, especially with Andy [Cohen], BUT people have been reaching out to her to tell her that it would be great to have her back, especially after all of the drama with Lisa [Vanderpump] and Brandi [Glanville].”
Two days later, that report were confirmed to be false when reps for both Grammer and Maloof claimed to RumorFix that there was “no truth” to the rumors.
Then came reports of possible role changes within the cast.
“Kim Richards, Yolanda Foster and Carlton Gebbia appear most likely to face a downgrade next season to friend of housewife status,” LALATE reported on March 17.
While it has since been confirmed (by Allison Dubois) that Gebbia would no longer be a part of the series, Richards and Foster’s downgrades appear to make sense. After all, Richards’ main story line during season four was training her rebellious dog, and Foster continues to struggle with Lyme disease.
So, with Carlton gone and two wives possibly downgraded, there is a lot of space to be filled and in addition to Safai, Bravo is also reportedly in talks with Kyle Richards’ best friend, Faye Resnick, who has guest starred on the show on multiple occasions.
“Faye does not want to go back to the show,” a source close to Resnick revealed to Radar Online on April 3. “She says it is so nasty and b***y and she just doesn’t need it.”
However, at the same time, she, like most, has a price tag — and if Bravo is willing to pay up, she’d be more than happy to sign on.
“Faye knows the housewives make about $250,000 each,” the source told Radar. “She thinks it was miserable being on the show BUT for the right price they could definitely make it worth her while.”
