The Hamptons Reacts to “Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons” Filming

The Hamptons are bracing for impact.

As Kourtney Kardashian and her sister Khloe prepare to film their new “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” spinoff, “Kourtney and Khloe Take The Hamptons,” residents of the town are speaking out, some in support of the girls and their show, and others in anger over their “riff-raff” coming to town.

According to the official show announcement in March, cameras will be following Kourtney and Khloe as they spend their summer in the exclusive beach community of New York, opening up a new location of their Dash Boutique and relocating Dash’s SoHo-based store to a new spot in the city.

“It’s a good thing because it will bring a lot of foot traffic to the area,” Steven Grigoras of Herrick Hardware (a neighboring store) told Hamptons.com in April. Fellow staffer David Herrick echoed the sentiment, telling the site, “It should be another exciting summer in the Hamptons.”

Another resident in favor of the Kardashians’ production coming to town is Irma Herzog, a local business proprietor who agreed to loan the ladies a 600-foot venue at 64 Jobs Lane rent free, believing it will drive traffic to her nearby restaurant, The Driver’s Seat.

“They didn’t want to pay the $30,000 to $60,000 rent charged at most Hamptons stores, so they agreed to shoot episodes of the show in the restaurant,” an insider revealed to the NY Daily News.

Other residents aren’t so excited.

“They’re riff-raff,” one man told CBS New York. Another man added, “Our clients wouldn’t appreciate that kind of disruption.”

“People are afraid that the Kardashians might turn us into the Jersey Shore,” local real estate broker Patrick McLaughlin told the NY Daily News, in a separate report. “[The area is] known for being a subtle and genteel environment. … People are afraid they might lose that with the influx of this sort of attention.”

Society publicist R. Couri Hay told the NY Daily News that “the old money are in horror about the arrival of the Kardashians. The locals are always happy that the summer business is coming in, but also terrified of losing that level of perfection that people who go to the Hamptons want.”

Whether the town is ready or not, Kourtney and Khloe are expected to arrive on June 2. Sister Kim Kardashian is also expected to visit, arriving days later and enjoying some sister bonding before heading back to her home base in Los Angeles.
