Leslie Knope and the Pawnee gang sure know how to do a sendoff right, as viewers of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” will attest. The final episode for Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe) and mom-to-be Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones) was one of the best goodbyes for comedy series regulars. A few flashback scenes done right and sincere love shown by even the most seemingly unsentimental characters made the episode a memorable one.
What will we miss most about our dearly departed Chris and Ann? Here are just a few of our favorite things about these former Pawnee residents.
Leslie Knope and Ann Perkins: It All Started With a Pit
It was extremely special to see Ann’s character progress from just another complaining Pawnee resident with a pit in her backyard, to such a vital part of Leslie’s life. It shows how the closest friendships can develop under various circumstances and over short periods of time. It’s no secret how much Leslie loves Ann, and the thought of her beloved friend leaving Pawnee and her to start her family nearly crushed her. We will definitely miss Ann’s friendship with Leslie, a friendship that is sure to remain strong even through distance and life changes.
Chris Traeger: Always Able to See the Silver Lining
In a world full of naysayers, sarcasm and downright meanies, it was always refreshing to have Chris show up on the scene with his highly positive outlook on life. His outlook was so positive that, at one point, Ann didn’t even realize she was dumped! He did fall into deep despair after a painful breakup with Garry/Jerry/Larry’s daughter, it was not long before he was the Chris we know and love, always smiling and cheering on strangers and friends.
Ann Perkins and Chris Traeger: A Not So Usual Love Story
Only Ann and Chris could take a relationship from breakup to coworkers to friends to being a sperm donor to becoming a family. They have both been such good friends to both Leslie and Ben, helping them through their own struggles to finally get to the happy marriage they have now. It is wonderful to finally see these two happy together and ready to embark on an exciting adventure as new parents.
