“Teen Mom” Returns Without Farrah

Catelynn

When “Teen Mom” returns to MTV next year, the cast will be a bit different. Fans will be reacquainted with Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood, but they won’t be seeing Farrah Abraham. On Aug. 13, Us Weekly confirmed the series’ return, noting that Abraham “will not be joining” her co-stars for season five.

Abraham was reportedly left out of negotiations because of her 2013 sex tape and recent career decisions. Months after “Teen Mom” came to an end, Abraham taped and sold a sex tape, “Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom.” From there, Abraham went on a nationwide tour of strip clubs and adult entertainment expos, during which she promoted the film and mingled with fans.

Months later, Abraham cashed in further on her career in adult entertainment, launching a line of sex toys and revealing plans for an erotic trilogy.

Around that time, reports surfaced, claiming MTV was in talks to bring “Teen Mom” back. It was then alleged Lowell, Bookout and Portwood were refusing to be a part of the negotiations if Abraham was returning.

In response to the news, Abraham told Us Weekly, “I have my own life.”

This life currently includes promoting her sex toy line and novel, “Celebrity Sex Tape: In The Making,” and doing “research” at an Austin, Texas strip club, where she recently began cocktail waitressing and stripping.

As for what is to come, Portwood, Bookout and Lowell gave details to the magazine.

“I’ve changed so much that my focus and my goals are different than before,” Portwood said. “I am currently enrolled in school but I have no idea what I want to major in yet.”

Portwood began a five-year prison sentence in June 2012 and received an early release in Nov. 2013. Now that she’s a free, sober woman, Portwood is focused on being a good mom and establishing herself as a career woman.

Earlier this month, Portwood and her daughter’s father, Gary Shirley, filmed Leah’s first day of Kindergarten, where they reportedly ran into his ex-girlfriend. Although there were reports claiming the scene was dramatic, Shirley later denied any issues on Twitter.

Bookout is also focused on her career.

“My family and I are in such a new and interesting place in our lives,” Bookout said. “I feel like I have grown up so much since the last time that I filmed anything for TV, so it will be very interesting to show viewers how our lives have evolved. I started a new job just a few weeks ago. I’m a social media marketing specialist for a company, and I absolutely love it.”

Bookout confirmed she was filming in July, shortly after she and boyfriend Taylor (who “Teen Mom” fans have yet to meet) moved in together, so there’s a chance fans will be getting to see them take that step in their relationship.

Bookout’s son’s father, Ryan Edwards, shared a photo of MTV cameras in his car, confirming he is on board with season five as well.

Lowell and her fiancé, Tyler Baltierra, appear to have the most going on. Between their careers, Lowell’s second pregnancy and the planning of their 2015 wedding, the couple has their hands full.

“I feel like documenting this pregnancy is totally different, because now it’s our time to be parents,” Lowell said. “Tyler and I have always done the show to help people. Now people can see what it will be like to juggle the responsibilities of taking care of our new baby while navigating our relationship with Carly and her adoptive parents.”

Lowell and Baltierra have been filming since June, and while they haven’t revealed details about what they’ve filmed, it’s safe to say fans will see plenty of Lowell’s pregnancy.

Following the season five announcement, Lowell told fans, “It’s official we are coming back!! Looking forward to showing you what we have been doing!”
