The cast of “Teen Mom” is returning to MTV for a fifth season, and when they do, fans are going to have a lot to get caught up on.
When we last saw the girls on the MTV reality series, they were struggling to balance their mommy duties with their lives as teens. Now, they are all grown up, establishing their careers and thriving as parents.
The cast of “Teen Mom” recently reunited in New York City for the first time in years to film for MTV and with all the photos they shared on social media, we can’t help but get super pumped up for the upcoming season.
All the girls have tons going on in their personal lives, but cast member Catelynn Lowell’s current life situation is perhaps the most anticipated. After all, she’s pregnant again. In a matter of months, Lowell and fiancé, Tyler Baltierra, will welcome their second daughter, but they’re keeping this one.
On the first four seasons of “Teen Mom,” we watched as Lowell and Baltierra struggled with their decision to choose adoption for their first child, Carly. While the couple knew they were making the best choice for Carly, not having her in their lives full-time was heartbreaking.
Now they are expecting baby number two, Lowell and Baliterra couldn’t be more excited and it’s going to be a beautiful thing to see them begin their journey into parenthood.
In addition to their baby news, Lowell and Baltierra are reportedly planning to get married a few months after the baby arrives, which sounds like the making for quite the eventful season five.
Amber Portwood also underwent major life changes during the show’s two-year hiatus. After filming wrapped on season four, Portwood, who struggled for years with addiction, turned herself in to authorities, was sentenced to prison, and began serving five years.
At the time, she had the option of completing drug treatment, as opposed to jail, but in the end, she knew she couldn’t kick her deadly habit living at home. Seeing Portwood in such a desperate and hopeless place was sad to watch. But now things are better: she is out of jail and, more importantly, sober.
It’s really amazing and a true testament to her mental strength, which she discusses in her just-released book, “Never Too Late.” On season five, we will watch as Portwood, cares for five-year-old daughter, Leah Shirley, adjusts to post-prison life, and begins her college career.
Maci Bookout is in college and will graduate this December. She is currently working as a social media marketing specialist and living with her boyfriend of nearly two years, Taylor McKinney.
During her “Being Maci” special (the other “Teen Mom” cast members had “Being” specials as well), Bookout and McKinney were dating, but chose to keep their relationship away from the cameras.
This time around, however, we will be meeting McKinney for the first time and seeing plenty of their live-in romance.
“I don’t think it will be as great without me,” Abraham said. “I personally won’t be watching.”
Instead, Abraham will be focused on her career, which currently consists of the promotion of her erotic novel and sex tape, as well as her latest gig, stripping at an Austin-area gentleman’s club.
Just as exciting as getting caught up with the moms is getting caught up with the kids – who are all five-years-old and heading off to kindergarten. The “Teen Mom” son and daughters aren’t babies anymore and it’s sure to be a bit shocking (and aging) to see them as big kids.
“Teen Mom” season five will air on MTV in 2015.
