‘Saved By The Bell’ Returns To Television As Elizabeth Berkley Stars On DWTS

Saved-By-The-Bell DWTS

Saved By The Bell was one of the most popular sitcoms of its day and even now, the series remains etched in the minds of the children of the 80’s, 90’s, and everyone else who got in on the show during it’s run from 1989-1993, and during the show’s reruns which have aired since.

The series was successful from the start and the characters will forever live on in the memories of those who have watched. From Zack Morris’ ongoing romance with Kelly Kapowski to his friendship with Screech, the show was jam-packed with key moments that young people go through and struck a cord with many.

While new episodes of Saved By The Bell ended long ago, reruns have lived on through networks such as Nickelodeon and MTV and now, the E! Network is getting in on the action.

“E! will begin airing a block of Saved by the Bell episodes starting Monday, November 11, with a five-hour marathon and then a two-hour block every weekday between 7 and 9 a.m.,” Wetpaint reports.

In a new interview with TIME Magazine, Dennis Haskins, who played Mr. Belding, weighed in on  what it is that has kept such an ongoing interest in the series. “The energy, you could see it right away. There wasn’t anything else like it,” he explained. “[Viewers] embraced it in a way no one could imagine. The show was about firsts, things we all go through, like having your dad lose his job or hurting your best friend’s feelings,” he says. “We didn’t hit people with a hammer. We hit people with a feather, with the message.”

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Berkley, also known as Jessie Spano by Saved By The Bell fans, continues to impress on Dancing With The Stars where she is currently one of six couples remaining. During a recent episode, Elizabeth made a splash when she channeled her former role’s infamous caffeine pill meltdown with a remake of the scene in the form of a jive with partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Currently, Elizabeth is in third place when it comes to her average dancing scores with 26.2 points behind Amber Riley and Derek Hough who have an average score of 27 points and Corbin Blue and Karina Smirnoff who have an average of 26.7. Although there are still a few weeks left, Elizabeth definitely has a good shot at the mirror ball trophy.

Elizabeth’s on-screen boyfriend Mario Lopez, also known as A.C. Slater, also competed on the dancing show where he finished in second place.
