Millionaire Todd Chrisley and his family will soon be hitting the small screen as reality TV’s newest family on the tentatively titled show “Chrisley Knows Best.”
“The half-hour ‘Chrisley Knows Best,’ which revolves around an Atlanta family led by self-made multimillionaire Todd Chrisley, has been given an eight-episode order,” The Hollywood Reporter announced last month. “The series follows the brash and outspoken Todd, his wife, Julie, and their five children — Lindsie, 24; Kyle, 22; Chase, 17; Savannah, 16; and Grayson, 7 — who live a seemingly perfect Southern life with everything money can buy. A ‘patriarch of perfection,’ Todd runs his family like his business — with an iron fist — and micromanages every move and expense. Behind the facade of the 30,000 sq. ft. home, real-life issues and drama are uncovered.”
During the also released sneak peek at the series, Chrisley is seen speaking of his many famous neighbors, including Usher and Chipper Jones, and discussing his desire to get into the fashion industry. He also revealed his family spends $300,000/year on clothes, so perhaps joining the fashion industy would make good sense.
“‘Chrisley Knows Best’ is a broad family comedy that is a modern version of Father Knows Best with the volume turned way up,” explained Heather Olander, senior vp alternative programming at USA Network. “While their lifestyle is over-the-top and their personalities are larger-than-life, the Chrisleys are a very close-knit family who are refreshingly honest and genuinely funny.”
This new addition to the USA Network lineup follows the order of “The Moment,” an inspirational series with Kurt Warner, which debuted earlier this year, and the reality competition “Summer Camp.” The network is also working on bringing two other unscripted series in the upcoming months including a U.S. version of “The Choir” and another series titled “Partners in Crime.”
“Chrisley Knows Best” is set to premiere on Tuesday, March 11 at 10:00pm following reruns of “Modern Family,” which was done in an effort to draw the audience of “Modern Family,” a huge comedy hit, into the show.
In a second effort at making this reality series a hit, the network has also arranged for the new series to also air a second time every week on the E! Network, USA’s sister network, on Sundays at 10:30 p.m. starting on March 16.
