If you’re a fan of “The Big Bang Theory” and can’t decide which new fall TV series to add to your viewing schedule, we’ve made it easier for you.
Below you’ll find a list of seven characters from “The Big Bang Theory” paired with the new show they’d be most likely to watch. Just decide which character you relate to the most to discover the new series you’ll geek out on this fall.
1. Sheldon Cooper
“Gotham” — Starting Monday, September 22, 8 p.m. on FOX
Sheldon once said he could be Batman with “enough start-up capital and an adequate research facility.” If you share his love for the wealthy caped crusader with no superpowers, then you’ll definitely want to check out this series about how a very young Bruce Wayne grew up to become the Dark Knight. It will feature the back stories of The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, and The Penguin, so it’s the perfect show for aspiring superheroes who want to learn about what makes villains tick.
Before getting engrossed in “Gotham,” Sheldon would be sure to point out to his pals that it’s not right to have a Batman TV series with no Batman. Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) does most of the crime fighting here, and he doesn’t need any of those wonderful toys to take down Gotham’s most wanted.
2. Leonard Hofstadter
“Scorpion” — Starting Monday, September 22, 9 p.m. on CBS
Leonard would really love this TV series; it’s like a bizarre version of “The Big Bang Theory.” It’s about a genius named Walter (Elyes Gabel) who teams up with his equally-intelligent pals to form a think tank. The super-smart Super Friends use their above-average brains to help Homeland Security save lives and bring down bad guys. Walter also befriends a waitress named Paige (Katherine McPhee) who has a genius son. Guys who loved seeing the geek get the hot girl next door on “The Big Bang Theory” might enjoy this one; Walter and Paige are going to be “Lenny: The Sequel.”
“Selfie” — Starting Tuesday, September 30, 8 p.m. on ABC
Just like Penny, “Selfie” character Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan) is a ditz who used to think fame was the key to happiness. However, after becoming a social media star, she realizes celebrity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and she decides to give her life a makeover. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Penny will be doing something similar during season eight of “The Bang Theory.” The bride-to-be will give up on acting to become a pharmaceutical rep, and she’s going to discover she doesn’t need to be a big star to feel good about herself. If you can relate to Penny and Eliza’s struggles to become successful and live more fulfilling lives, then this is the right fall TV series for you.
4. Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz
“Bad Judge” — Starting Thursday, October 2, 9 p.m. on NBC
Kate Walsh’s judge character is sassy, she enjoys drinking, and she gets to boss people around. Judge Rebecca Wright is definitely a woman after Bernadette’s heart. In a scene from the “Bad Judge” trailer, she makes a bigamist take a course in feminism while wearing a shirt that reads, “I’m a convicted bigamist.” It’s not hard to imagine Bernie making Howie do something similar to teach him a lesson about the way he treats women. If you like ladies who tell it like it is – and have wine and cake for breakfast – then you’ll want to check this one out.
5. Rajesh Koothrappali
“A to Z” — Starting Thursday, October 2, 9:30 p.m. on NBC
If you’re a romantic at heart like Raj, then you might fall in love with the love story of Andrew (Ben Feldman) and Zelda (Cristin Milioti). The most sensitive member of “The Big Bang Theory” gang will appreciate Andrew’s love of singing Celine Dion songs, and it’s easy to imagine Raj snuggling up with Cinnamon and falling for Zelda, a girl with a video game character name who enjoys themed cocktail parties and pedicures.
5. Sheldon Cooper
“The Flash“— Starting Tuesday, October 2, 8 p.m. on The CW
Because Sheldon is so special, he gets two fall TV series. Sheldon is obviously a fan of The Flash, as evidenced by his large T-shirt collection featuring the fleet-footed superhero’s logo. Sheldon would definitely geek out after seeing Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) working on a particle accelerator, and he’d love that The Flash doesn’t need a car to get around.
6. Amy Farrah Fowler
“Jane the Virgin” — Starting Monday, October 13, 9 p.m. on The CW
Amy and girls in the same boat as her might appreciate this series. It’s about a 23-year-old virgin named Jane (Gina Rodriguez) who accidentally gets artificially inseminated. Jane’s life becomes even more of a soap opera after she discovers her dad is a telenovela star and the father of her unborn child is a hot playboy hotel owner. Amy would love Jane’s story because it proves you don’t need sex for life to be exciting.
7. Howard Wolowitz
“Ascension” — Starting Monday, November 24, 9 p.m. on The CW
If you dream of going to space like Howard, you’ll love this series about a group of people who embark on a space voyage with the goal of populating a new planet. Their journey begins in 1963 when the government launches the covert mission. Most of “Ascension” will take place 50 years later on the voyagers’ massive ship, where a mysterious murder has the Ascension inhabitants questioning their mission. Howard would also love this one because it stars geek goddess Tricia Helfer.
