Heidi and Spencer Pratt will soon return to television.
Four years after the pair wrapped filming on MTV’s “The Hills,” the Pratts, who tied to knot during a 2009 episode of “The Hills” season five, will return to TV in ABC’s “Celebrity Wife Swap,” and they are getting paid quite well for the appearance.
According to a June 4 report by TMZ, Heidi and Spencer shot an episode of “Celebrity Wife Swap” where they temporarily swapped lives with seven-time Olympic medalist Amanda Beard and her husband, photographer Sacha Brown. And while most couples get paid around $30,000 for participating in the series, the Pratts reportedly received $50,000.
After “The Hills” came to an end, the Pratts renewed their wedding vows in Nov. 2010 in a small ceremony in California. At the time, Spencer called the couple’s first wedding “fake” and “a nightmare.” He said, “Last time it was about everything else, it was about drama, it was about ratings.” And Heidi added, “I can finally just be Heidi … this is really our first wedding about Spencer and I and our love.”
Months later, Heidi signed on to appear in VH1’s “Famous Food,” where she and six other celebrities competed for a partnership in a new Los Angeles-area restaurant. Unfortunately for Heidi, she was not the winner of the short-lived series.
Also in 2011, Heidi landed a small role in the Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston comedy, “Just Go With It.”
As a couple, Heidi and Spencer have appeared on two competition reality shows, “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here” and the U.K.’s “Celebrity Big Brother.”
On “The Hills,” the Pratts embraced the villain role, and while they later claimed they were simply playing a part, their on-screen antics eventually led to many lost friendships and even family estrangement. Early on in the series, Heidi had a falling out with her longtime friend, Lauren Conrad. Many of the other cast mates sided with Lauren in the feud. Spencer was also impacted, losing touch with Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado, who used to be his close friends, as well as his sister, Stephanie Pratt, who grew closer to Lauren.
Despite several attempts to make amends with Lauren both on and off screen, Heidi and her former friend were never able to get their relationship back on track. In Heidi’s latest interview about Lauren, which took place with E! in Dec. 2013, Heidi expressed her thanks for having Lauren in her life.
“I do really appreciate everything that she’s done for me and I’ll always have such great memories about her and, you know, without her I wouldn’t have any of the world that I have today or my husband,” Heidi told E!. “It’s unfortunate things happened the way that it did, but we’re both different people now, older and more mature.”
As for the rest of the cast, Heidi continues to spend time with Stephanie and her sister, Holly Montag. She and Spencer reportedly have also reunited with Brody Jenner.
Following the reunion, which took place in Malibu, Calif. in early May, Spencer told Us Weekly, “Brody’s an incredible friend. We all got caught up playing our Hills characters for a while, but now that we’re back to actual reality, it’s all good.”
Currently, Heidi and Spencer are living in Los Angeles with Spencer’s parents, but now that Spencer has graduated college, they are planning to move into their own place. As for children, Heidi is ready and planning to start a family “in the next few years.”
