Adam Levine’s moves like Jagger paid off—The Voice judge just got an unneeded ego boost by being named People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
Levine’s Jagger swagger didn’t help him escape a gruesome fate at the hands of a serial killer copycat on American Horror Story: Asylum, but perhaps the serial model dater’s role on the popular show played a part in People’s decision to choose him over other hotties like Ryan Gosling, Chris Hemsworth, and Henry Cavill. Or maybe Levine walked away with the award because other stars simply didn’t want it. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Maroon 5 singer joked, “Ryan Gosling, thank you for turning this down constantly. That really helped my campaign.”
But Adam Levine has proved that he’s perfectly capable of competing with the “Hey, Girl” guy—his steamy sex scenes in American Horror Story seemed to come straight from the blush-inducing pages of Fifty Shades of Grey. On the last season of the show, Levine and the lovely Jenna Dewan-Tatum played a pair of sadistic sex tourists seeking out scary places to get it on for their “haunted honeymoon.” In one kinky scene, Levine’s character strapped his lover to a filthy asylum bed in the abandoned Briarcliff Manor sanitarium. However, his S&M sexytime turned into a fight for survival when he stuck one of his body parts in the wrong hole.
Speaking of Jenna Dewan-Tatum, the gorgeous Witches of East End actress must have a real magic touch. Last year her hot hubby, Magic Mike star Channing Tatum, was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. So Ryan Gosling fans better start praying for Dewan-Tatum to get cast as The Notebook star’s next love interest.
But this time around, the Gos just couldn’t compete with Levine’s big acting debut on American Horror Story. The singer was surprisingly comfortable in front of the camera, even though he’s not a big fan of horror. According to The Huffington Post, Levine said of his role on the show, “When I watched a little bit of it, I was terrified, of everything but my part. So I might as well never watch that show again. What the hell was that? That show is totally f*cked up. It was really hard to watch, because it’s just so weird and disturbing.”
The show definitely isn’t afraid to get really crazy when it comes to sex. The first season of the series featured that freaky latex fetish suit, and last season had all those disturbing scenes between Dr. Thredson/Bloody Face (Zachary Quinto) and Lana (Sarah Paulson). Surely you remember the revolting way the serial killer tried to turn his captive into a mother figure before raping her.
If Levine was freaked out by the last season of the show, it’s hard to imagine how he feels about what’s happened so far on American Horror Story: Coven. Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) made two guys bleed to death by having sex with them; Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe) begged a centaur to have sex with her; Zoe had a freaky three-way with her two undead friends, Franken-Kyle (Evan Peters) and Madison (Emma Roberts); and Fiona (Jessica Lange) started hooking up with the ghost of the Axeman serial killer (Danny Huston).
Since the show just keeps getting more and more twisted each season, the Sexiest Man Alive is probably scared to revisit it. However, Ryan Murphy might be interested in bringing Levine back to play a character who gets to sing since American Horror Story is becoming known for its musical moments. Last season we witnessed Jessica Lange’s surreal performance of “The Name Game,” and this season we’ll get to see Stevie Nicks perform a duet with her swamp witch superfan, Misty Day (Lily Rabe).
So would you like to see Levine return next season? I know I’d love to see him as a rock star vampire who only feasts on the blood of Victoria’s Secret models.
