Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga are claiming to be friends on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” but have they really put their drama-filled past behind them?
For years, Giudice and Gorga feuded back and forth on the show, but somehow, ahead of the show’s sixth season, the pair magically reconciled – at least that’s what they claim. Sources close to the pair, however, say different.
In a recent report by Radar Online, a source claims Giudice and Gorga’s on-camera friendship is nothing more than an act.
“Teresa and Melissa aren’t friends, not even close,” an insider told the site. “The only time they talk to each other or interact is when filming Housewives, or promoting it.”
After filming on season five of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” wrapped, Giudice and Gorga were in a bad place in their relationship. Not only had their husbands, Joe Giudice and Joe Gorga, engaged in a filmed altercation, they also couldn’t get past it – even with the help of therapy.
However, both parties knew that fans were getting sick of their constant back and forth, so, according to the source, they decided to make amends in an effort to reboot their story lines on the show.
“They both decided the arguing on camera had to stop because it made them both look really bad,” the source explained.
As for Giudice’s relationship with her brother, things still aren’t what they once were.
“Teresa’s relationship with her brother Joe, Melissa’s husband, isn’t much better,” the source said. “Although they do talk and text each other on the telephone, Joe isn’t happy with the way Melissa was treated by Teresa in the past, and just can’t forget it.”
Giudice’s decision to air her child’s grief over her and her husband’s upcoming fraud sentencing is also something that has reportedly gotten under the skin of Gorga, causing even more tension between them.
“It’s very upsetting to Melissa that her eldest niece, Gia, is being shown in commercials for the show, crying,” the source said. “This is obviously a very difficult time for Teresa and her husband, Joe, [but] Melissa would never allow her children to be filmed or exploited if she were in Teresa’s situation.”
Prior to Gorga joining “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” for the show’s third season, she and Giudice weren’t friends. Although they were civil when it came to family matters, reports claimed they never got close. Giudice went as far as to allegedly start rumors about Gorga, claiming she was a stripper and was involved in a cheating scandal.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Gorga insisted she and Giudice turned the page and stated that she and her sister-in-law have one another’s backs.
“Teresa and I are good,” Gorga said. “There’s things that we will never agree on. Ever. There’s going to be things that I completely see one way and she saw it a different way and we get that now. I think in light of the bigger picture and what’s going on we realized that certain things don’t matter. So, we can be as petty as we want, but when push comes to shove we are going to back each other up.”
