‘American Horror Story’ Brings in Stevie Nicks: Wise or Not?

“American Horror Story: Coven” is bringing a music legend to the series this season, and fans will not have to wait long to see the ‘white witch’ charm the witches on this series. Stevie Nicks will appear in one of the episodes set to air this season. This news came on Tuesday straight from the man in charge. He shared the news on his Twitter account, and the news started a huge buzz among fans of the series.

Stevie Nicks has played a huge role on this series already, and it is not clear what she will actually do when she does finally appear on the series.  Her appearance is set for episode 10 this season, and episode six aired this week. That gives fans an idea of how long their wait is. Ryan Murphy is beyond happy to bring Stevie Nicks to the series.

This is not the first time he has worked with the singer. He paid tribute to Fleetwood Mac on “Glee” on Fox, and she has been to the set of that series. From the start of this season of “American Horror Story” on FX, it was clear that Nicks was important. Misty, who is played by Lily Rabe, feels connection to the singer, and she spoke about the mythology of Nicks being the ‘white witch’ during her first appearance.

Ryan Murphy even revealed that he based Misty on Nicks, and eight of her songs will appear during this season. She might even sing during her appearance. What does Nicks coming to the series? It means an added boost to an already popular series with many film and television legends already a part of the action. Stevie Nicks is joining names like Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Jessica Lange?

This season is already bringing in huge viewers, but when a series bring in such a legend into the mix this could make for a record breaking number of viewers. People that do not normally watch the series could tune in just to watch Nicks appear and perform. Her fan base is strong enough to warrant that kind of loyalty. This could open the door for new viewers to the series.

With season four already on the way and the exit of Jessica Lange at the end of next season, new blood is always a good thing. Ryan Murphy has managed to create two very different series that strike a chord with fans. However, some might argue that Murphy is going too far with this special appearance, especially if she is just coming on to meet her number one fan. This could cross the line into too campy, and Murphy puts the series in danger of being accused of jumping the shark.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Stevie Nicks meet Misty on the series? Or is this a mistake in the making by Ryan Murphy?
