Alyson Hanningan just scored an exciting new role in an upcoming CBS series, which will be produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed Alyson Hannigan has nabbed “the lead role in the CBS pilot ‘More Time With Family,’ a multi-camera comedy produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.”
“The pilot, which received a put pilot commitment (a ‘put pilot’ increases the likelihood a project will receive a series order as the network faces penalties if it’s never aired) back in October, stars Tom Papa, who plays a man who undergoes a career change to spend more time at home with his family,” EW reported.
The series is based on Papa’s stand-up comedy and Damon’s life experiences.
Papa will also be writing for the series and is one of three executive producers (Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa are the other two).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “More Time With Family” is about a husband and father (Papa) who makes a career change in order to spend more time with his family. Hannigan plays Cindy Rizzo (the wife of Papa’s character), who is described as “an amazing mother who runs the house like a drill sergeant and has endless energy. She’s tasked with trying to teach Tom how to handle the family.”
Alyson Hannigan’s new deal to star in “More Time With Family” not only keeps her with the same network she’s been with since the premiere of “How I Met Your Mother” in 2005, but also keeps her with the same studio, 20th Century Fox TV, which also produced “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” from 1997-2003. In other words, Hannigan has a long-running relationship with her studio and that’s a rarity in Hollywood.
Hannigan first began her acting career at four-years-old when she appeared in a handful of commercials. At 11, she moved to Hollywood where she regularly went on auditions. In 1986, Hannigan began her film career, starring in “Impure Thoughts” and “My Step-Sister is a Vampire.” Years later, she landed her first TV role in “Free Spirit.” From there, Hannigan appeared in several movies, namely the “American Pie” franchise, and TV shows, including “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Angel,” and “Veronica Mars.”
Alyson Hannigan is currently filming the ninth and final season of “How I Met Your Mother.” Her costar, Cristin Milioti, also landed a new role once their current show is over. She will be starring alongside Rashida Jones in a the NBC comedy, “A to Z.”
